OK, is there any explanation (manual?) on how to set IB or other broker symbols on MC 7 yet?
Can't see any data on symbols such, 6EH1, ESH1 or even CLH1. Even charts are giving problems saying that cannot be loaded.
Meanwhile, I can see bids and ask for forex symbols, but again, no charts.
What am I missing?
Regards,
Fernando

It's working? It works fine for me, IB and Zen-Fire (ESH1/Globex for ES 03/11).
I'm able to connect to IB and open a chart using the MC 6.1, but with this free version I just can't.
I created new symbols just to make sure things were the same, called for a chart and after a couple of seconds, the chart was loaded.
With this free version MC just hangs there, waiting for data... no charts and no bid/ask data.
QuoteManager says that market data farm connection is OK. If it is OK, what seems to be the problem?
It's on a test machine, so it was a new TWS install for me.It's working? It works fine for me, IB and Zen-Fire (ESH1/Globex for ES 03/11).

Actually, it was not a new installation for me.
I opened MC 6.1, and open an ES chart using IB TWS API connection. All went OK.
Closed all, opened MC free version (DT), and TWS again, called ES chart, and nothing happened. Just stood there, waiting for data...
The weirdest thing though, is I first called ES chart, and then, when I called another chart, Euro, QuoteManager says ES was disconnected from real-time data. How can this be?
This is telling that there is a connection, but data just can't pass trough.
I then tested the eSignal connection and here I didn't have any problem. All charts opened fine using DT version.

And any issues with running the licensed MultiCharts and MultiCharts Discretionary Trader on the same computer at the same time?
You may already have an answer to this but for those who don't this is from the blog...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miscellaneous
MultiCharts and MultiCharts Discretionary Trader can be installed and used at the same time on one computer. There is no conflict between the two programs.
Not sure if this is the same issue, but I get a similar error message if I try to open a workspace with a saved DOM.
Connect to IB & TS, shut down MCDT. Restart MCDT, shows following Windows kernel32 exception.
It will not recognize the Symbols from IB from MC5.5 or 6 You need to re-add the symbols and it will work fine from IB

Just to update my situation...
Dave is the MAN
In less than 1 minute Dave solved a problem that yesterday robbed 3 hours of my life.
Allow me to ask something related to the chart trading window.
I use eSignal for data feed and IB for brokerage. Isn't possible to see in the chart trading window the bid/ask price from the broker? Looking at a chart from a different feed than the broker can generate some discrepancies on prices that could make us lose a couple of ticks when giving an order.
Actually, even if the chart is feed by the broker, it would be nice to have access to the bid/ask prices in the chart trading window.
Also, is there any lag when orders are given through MC and through TWS?
Regards,
Fernando

You are correct sir. This is a workspace with saved DOM error, reproducible. Just don't open the saved workspace with a DOM opened, repeatedly. Not sure if this is the same issue, but I get a similar error message if I try to open a workspace with a saved DOM.

when connecting the MCDT to IB, on searching/lookup for the IB FX codes, the system hangs.
Am I in the right place when using the Insert Symbols into Portfolio >> Cash Tab and searching for symbols such as AUD, EUR, JPY
thanks.

scratch the last question..... yes it all works fine, as for some reason I had disconnected IB (doh!) and missed the obvious reconnection.
so far... I like what I see and will start to test more, and I hope offer some constructive feedback.
(For the record I was a previous user of the full version of MC....but stopped using it until it offered more manual chart trading. So if this is good....i'm back baby!)

I downloaded MultichartsDT today and tried to connect it to my MB Trading account. The red light turns yellow for a second and then back to red. I can connect with MB Navigator on this same machine and MB trading says there is nothing blocking the connection. I did enter the right login info...
How does this work?

Soma,I'm unable to install on an XP machine that meets the recommended specs. This has happened with each version of the DT release. I've restarted the machine and reinstalled the latest MBT Desktop Pro just in case.
I get the following error:
How do I resolve this?
Your user profile should be local in order to install MCDT properly.

Do you have a LAN setup? Also, please try to delete the following folder: "%allusersprofile%\TS Support\MultiCharts Discretionary Trader". You should have rights to do this.
There is a LAN here however all files are on this computer.
I don't have the folder you referenced. The set up fails before it gets to the point of creating that folder.
