MultiCharts: Trading Software for Automated Trading and Backtesting

I get these TWS connection errors.

Message: HMDS data farm connection is
broken:ushmds

how do we fix these errors

as I am new to MC. do we email MC support for these errors to find errors ?

These aren't caused by MC but originate from IB.

From another topic:

So when a connect TWS to Multichart, I have the following error message:
-"market data farm connection is broken:cashfarm"
-"HMDS data farm connection is broken:euhmds"

These messages are generated by IB API. Please contact IB support directly regarding this case.

Does this problem happen all the time for you or only occasionally on set times? The latter is expected because IB's servers are not up 24/7.

I don't know; that's something for IB. It also depends on whether it's really an issue: if the disconnects happen in the 'server reset times' (see the link in my post above) it's not an issue but expected behaviour.

Do these errors need to be fixed for you? You didn't mentioned that trading with IB through MultiCharts didn't work or you didn't receive price data. For example, if you don't trade US futures, then a connection alert with the 'usfuture' IB server is not a problem.

oh ok, i didnt think that far. so far, it didnt affect due to connection last night at 11.40pm and yes it was close to the autologoff time, then i changed it

my strategy has some more errors from TWS yesterday during day , but i didnt get screen shot. It was about orders rejection, order cancel etc . i will try to get screen shot of it and check the log tab

11.40 CST and errors started around that time

yes, I change autologoff every day and last night, I think it was late before I changed the logoff time
do youn suggest me to move to IB Gateway

IB daily server reboot and TWS auto logoff are 2 different and *unrelated* things.

and I had asked earlier would IB gateway resolve this issue of daily server reboot ?
even IB controller resolves?

IB server reboot and tws auto logoff are 2 unrelated things. ie. modifying one is not going to affect the other.


Read carefully and in detail... From IB's link above:

System Availability

Trading is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the exception of system reset times described in the table below.

The answer is No. Those resets do not affect IBController nor TWS. During reset TWS shortly losses communication to the server and then restores.
