When a chart for an instrument is plotted for the first time, the data is downloaded from the data provider server.
After that, the downloaded data is stored in cache. One can clear cache or save the downloaded data to the database:
- Manually, by using the Flush Cached Data to Database option in the main MultiCharts menu → File or in QuoteManager → Edit.
- Automatically, by closing all the MultiCharts applications. The data saving process will be displayed in the Saving Data to Storage window.
To store TradeStation historical data locally, Save data to local database option should be enabled.
Next time a chart with the same data range is plotted, the data is loaded from cache or the database first, then missing historical data and real-time data are requested from the data provider.
Where saved data is stored?
Saved data is stored locally, on your PC.
Can I store data on a cloud?
You can store the backup of your data on a cloud, but the data to be used in MultiCharts should be stored locally.
How do I keep data safe?
After you close all MultiCharts apps, wait for the data to be saved to the database. You can check the progress in the Saving Data to Storage window. Do not restart your machine until all the MultiCharts processes are finished.
We also recommend backing up your data regularly.
How do I transfer data to another machine?
You can create a backup file with your data, transfer it to another machine (on a flash card, via cloud, etc.) and restore it.
