If you have an ASCII file with data, there are two ways to use it in MultiCharts: ASCII Mapping and ASCII Import.
Comparison chart below will help you to choose the method to suit your needs:

ASCII Mapping ASCII Import
Data is not imported into the database.

When data is plotted, MultiCharts reads it from your file.
Edit Data menu will be empty.

Data is imported into the database.

You’ll see imported values in the Edit Data menu.

If your file was modified, the data on charts will update accordingly. If your file was modified, you’ll need to import it again to update the values in the database.
It’s possible to map multiple symbols at the same time. Data for each symbol should be imported separately.
For more info and guides check the Mapping ASCII and Importing Data pages.
