Ruler drawing tool is used to measure and visualize the distance between two points on a chart.

Inserting Ruler

  1. In the Insert menu, point to Drawing and then click Ruler or click the Ruler icon on the Drawing Tools toolbar.
  2. The cursor will change to a pencil icon .
  3. Click and drag between two points on the chart to apply the Ruler.

Formatting Ruler

To format a Ruler drawing, use one of the following methods:

  • Drag the cursor over the Ruler drawing to be formatted.
    When the cursor changes to a hand icon , double-click on it.
  • Drag the cursor over the Ruler drawing to be formatted.
    When the cursor changes to a hand icon , right-click and select Format Ruler from the shortcut menu.

Style

In the Style tab, you can customize the following parameters:

  • Line Up and Line Down: Select the Color and Weight.
  • Fill Up and Fill Down: Choose the Color and Alpha (transparency).

Labels

In the Labels tab, you can:

  • Toggle labels: Enable or disable labels by checking or unchecking the Show Labels box.
  • Customize appearance: Select the Font, Font style, Size, Effects, and Character Set.
